If God has given you a vision - this is a must read!

Pastor Abraham has written an understanding of why the Lord gives us a vision for our lives. And why does the Lord let us go through hardship to obtain that vision. He asks, "Are you a real Christian or a "Churchian"? Meaning do you just punch the clock at church? Are you afraid to fulfill God's purpose for your life because of the difficult challenges that lie ahead? I was both comforted and challenged by this book, comforted that my spiritual tests were not really roadblocks but doors and steps to be spiritually promoted, challenged that I need to continue to not only fulfill the physical reality that the Lord has shown me but to grow spiritually so that in fact I can actually achieve the vision the Lord has given me for my life. Much of this book written through his own personal experience. Get this book and discover the keys that will unlock your future in God's will.

If you are new to the Christian faith or have been a christian for many years, this book will have a profound impact on your spiritual life. I have been a Christian for many years and it has had an amazing impact on my life. It has helped me in the past couple of months to recognize that I was going through testing. Just the fact that I recognized it, helped me spiritually to understand what I needed to do to pass it. As I was reading the book, I kept saying to myself, I wish I had this knowledge sooner in my spiritual walk. It would have saved me so much strife and heartache in my life. The fatal shooting of 17-year-old Edmund Perry by New York City police officer Lee Van Houten in June of 1985 drew national headlines. The officer asserted that he was mugged by Perry and another black youth near Harlem. Subsequently, Edmund's brother Jonah, a Cornell undergraduate, was accused of being the second participant, tried and found not guilty. The case created controversy among blacks and whites alike, for the Perry brothers, raised in the ghetto, were educated at private schools; Edmund, graduated from Philips Exeter, was to attend Stanford University that fall. Anson (Exile, etc.) probes the problems that attended the uprooting of the brothers from a deprived background to the upper-class environment of their schools; and he raises questions as to whether the worlds of black and white in the U.S. are capable of reconciliation. In a profound and disturbing study Anson reaches a troubling conclusion about this case: "The only villain I had found was something amorphous, not a person or a thing, just a difference called race. Journalist Anson has written a compelling account of the life and death of a Harlem teenager. This black adolescent was different, however. He was a graduate of Phillips Exeter Prep School and had been admitted to Stanford University. When he was killed by a white policeman during an alleged mugging attempt in 1985, public reaction, especially among blacks, blamed the police for yet another needless murder of a young black man, in this case a kind of "black hope." Anson uncovered a much more complex story. Perry was trapped between two worldsthe upper-class, high-expectation milieu of Exeter and the "streets" of Harlem. He sold drugs at Exeter and tried to fit into Harlem, in part with street crime. Anson tells this tragic story with great empathy. Highly recommended for most libraries. Anthony O. A very interseting read Into the mind of a teenager living between two worlds

The author did an excellent job of researching the circumstances behind the killing of this young man I was able to develop a deep understanding of the challenges an inner city youth must endure even when he has had access to a "better" chance at life. I believe that the author tried in earnest to report the facts as he discovered the, and did show bias toward anyone.

You Need This Book

My boys needed some help with their hitting, and I decided I would try to help them. Since it was almost 30 years since I played baseball (and I really wasn't very good), I decided I needed some help. I bought a number of baseball instruction books, including You Can Teach Hitting. What a magnificent book!
Baker breaks the swing into components, clearly describes the reason for each part of the swing, and provides appropriate drills for T-ballers through the pros.
The benefits of the book can be immediate. After reading the first couple chapters, I found out I had been taught to grip the bat incorrectly, and, not surprisingly, I passed the misinformation on to my boys. After one or two swings with the proper grip, each of my boys had clearly improved their bat speed. Given that success, they were will to try other changes, and in just one week, they became noticeably better hitters.
This book is clearly written, interesting, and all key points are fully illustrated. I am glad that I can now help my boys with hitting, being confident that I am teaching them properly, and not just passing on mistakes I learned when I played ball.

I have coached for 5 years and read books by Ted Williams and Tony Gwynn. I found this book to be the most complete guide to a good swing than the rest. Ted was a dead pull hitter and Tony was an opposite field hitter. Their styles are hard to duplicate. Dusty Baker brings it all to life in this book in a way that every Dad can understand . If you think your kids coach is going to know how to coach hitting think again. It's worth the money to see the extra hits!

An easy, sure fire way to learn a compact, powerful swing

The genius of Dusty Baker's book is that the swing is broken into components, each with a mnemonic phrase, which makes understanding and remembering the key concepts easy for the youngest player. The kids that I have coached who have lost form on their swing, can get their groove back by a single suggestion of, "Ike to Mike" or "Inward Turn." This book is not only for the very young hitter, there are sections on pitch recognition, offensive strategies, and the mental aspects of hitting. I highly recommend this book for dads or youth baseball coaches so they can teach their players proper, and easy to learn hitting technique, and have them remember, and use, the knowledge.

It’s unfortunate that someone didn’t mention that to a certain hockey playing hottie because he just won’t take the hint and leave her alone. As much as Cassidy hates to admit it, if she has a type, Cole Mathews definitely fits the bill perfectly. With his dark shaggy hair, golden brown eyes, muscular arms, and those damnable dimples of his- he's absolutely gorgeous. Oh, and did she just so happen to mention his hard wide chest? Yeah... totally dreamy. Er... if she were the dreamy sort, that is. Thank goodness she's not. To make matters worse, he's ridiculously easy going. And yeah, she’ll come right out and say it- nice.

Definitely kryptonite material.

Which makes him much too dangerous for the likes of her and this year, she's smart enough to know it. Even though resisting him seems futile, that doesn't mean she isn’t going to try her damnedest to do it.

Sweet and Refreshing

It was nice to read a college story where the hero isn't sleeping around and both of the main characters are decent people. There was a good balance between a focus on school, on hockey, and on the relationship. The one thing that I would have liked to see more of and hope to see it in the next book is the friendship between Cassidy and Brooke. It was mostly underdeveloped except for one moment towards the end and I would have liked to see them connect and talk about things other than boys.

The only other thing that I didn't like was Cassidy's relationship with her family. She made mistakes, yes, but I feel like no one ever really told her that the worst of it wasn't her fault. She shouldn't feel ashamed of having one night stands, because there isn't anything wrong with it. And she also shouldn't blame herself for how her relationship with her family stands. It seemed to me that she not only sacrificed the most, but she also suffered the most. To have her also take on the responsibility for being estranged is just unfair. I wood understand her parents being upset at how things at Dartmouth turned out, but quite frankly the way they handled things is just bad parenting. It almost sounds like Cassidy had to seek therapy out herself. One thing that most definitely needs to happen farther down the line in the series is an apology from her family, and they have to admit that what they did was wrong. No tearful hugs and suddenly everything is okay. They need to be not only adults, but also parents and take ownership that they nearly destroyed their eldest daughter.

Other than that rant, I did enjoy the book and I love Cole. Like I said, it was refreshing to see a nice guy as the lead, one who is willing to take things at the heroine's pace. Be warned that the book does. It off rather abruptly to open up for a sequel. I don't know the author's plans for it, obviously, but I am wondering if it would've worked better as a standalone novel.

Finding Something To Fight For

This is a really good book. Cassidy Jameson has just transferred to a new school and is doing everything she can to do better than she first did. She went to Dartmouth her freshman year with a Hockey Scholarship and she failed completely. But she's hoping to just blend into the background, do well in school, and show that she's capable of so much more.

Cassidy feels like a huge failure and she's doing everything she can to do better. She's seeing a therapist, she's working really hard in school, and she's doing everything she can to not do anything she did the previous year. Her roomie and friend, Brooklyn, drags her to parties here and there but Cassidy doesn't drink and hangs out with her friend. Her family has shut her out and she was really close with her father before all this. He coached her and pushed her for Hockey and now he's made it clear that he doesn't want to have anything to do with her. Cole is gorgeous and doesn't shy away from showing her that he cares about her and wants to be with her. She does everything she can to push him away.

Cole comes into her life and he does everything he can to make sure she knows that he wants to be Cassidy's boyfriend. He is gorgeous and he's a hockey player. But he doesn't hook up with people, he's a relationship kind of guy. He was in a relationship until he found out that his best friend turned girlfriend cheated on him and now he has trust issues.

Definitely worth reading and looking forward to the next book - Don't Leave.

Just ok for me....

I liked the storyline and I really liked The hero but absolutely could not stand the heroine. I like strong female characters and I found her to be weak, naive and stupid. I realize that she made mistakes but she didn't do anything as bad as what she carried on about the whole book (which I was absolutely sick of after 200 pages of should I or shouldn't I tell him) and then she was a victim of the rest. She also needs to tell him about other things that she was somewhat smart enough to see something bad coming but too stupid to talk to him before it blows up in her face. I doubt that I will read the next one because I can't handle characters like her. The love story was sweet but I couldn't help but think he deserved better and not because of her past but because she clearly has no common sense.

In analysing this issue, the volume builds on the notion of ontological security and its recent applications to international relations theory. Although conflicts threaten the physical security of the parties involved, they also help settle existential questions about basic parameters of life, being, and identity, and thus over time become sources of ontological security. The prospect of peace, through the resolution or transformation of conflict, threatens to unsettle the stability and consistency of self-narratives, and their associated routines and habits at the individual, group, and state levels.

The contributors argue two key points: 1) that ontological insecurity may set in motion political and social processes that reproduce and reactivate conflicts; 2) that coping with peace anxieties necessitates the formulation of alternative self-narratives at the individual, societal, and state levels that re-situate the Self in relation to Other and to the world at large. Consequently, the book analyses the ways in which, and the conditions under which, conflict resolution induces ontological insecurity, and the different ways in which ontological insecurity has prevented the successful culmination of peace processes in different conflict contexts, including Cyprus, Israel-Palestine and Northern Ireland.

This book will be of much interest to students of critical security studies, conflict resolution, peace and conflict studies, social theory and IR in general.

Wonderful Book!

I bought this book in 2000(4th Edition 1997) when I was doing my PM&R residency as PGYII, rotating through outpatient clinic. At that time, as a GYII resident, I realized that I had little skill in performing musculoskeletal exams, because my internship in internal medicine earlier did not offer any training in outpatient orthopedic clinic where such skills could be taught. I needed a book from which I could learn these skills in the shortest time. With this in mind, I made the decision to purchase this book based on a senior resident's recommendation. I found this book to be well written, comprehensive, yet concise, easy to read and follow. It teaches numerous techniques used to exam bone, joint, muscle and nerve commonly used in orthopedic examination, while extremely extensive, eg, from the exam of distal interphalangeal joint of elderly to the exam of club foot in infant, but fortunately, most of the exams are presented in drawings, which make them easy to understand and to remember. There is a very will written text section, preceding the illustration of orthopedic exams of specific anatomic region, providing readers with background information on commonly seen orthopedic entities. What I like most about this book is that it avoids using lengthy descriptions; instead, it makes use of numerous simple drawings with clear illustrations, contrasted with corresponding radiographic images, which enable the readers to grasp the fundamentals and the abnormals with ease.

Very illustrative and generously descriptive

For only $42, you get a great wealth of priceless information and artistic work. The style of British writing of disciplined English and heavily emphasized, detailed clinical examination are interesting features of this book, which are generally absent in American medical books.

The author displays his artistic skill in many hand-drawn figures, supplemented by many x-ray photographs that are also well explained, both in text and by drawings. The book has 14 chapters, each discusses specific region of the body with special emphasis on joints, bones, and nerves. The common trend in the display of the chapters is a brief introductory to its anatomy, followed by listing of its specific pathological issues, and ending with illustrated examinations. These take the form of well-labeled figures that describe the sequence of examination.

The book index is simple and informative. Also, the summaries of joint movements are rightfully placed on the front and rear inner flaps, which makes it handy to reach. The small size of 300 pages, light weight, easy to open book binding, and clear text and page design, all make this book reader-friendly. The only minor bauble is the very truncated table of biochemical values

Putting things in order

I have come to the age where all around me I see illness and death. I do not have a dedicated place where all my information (will, insurance, etc.)can be found. If something was to happen to me my husband and children would be lost. I guess I'm just wanting to make things easier for everyone.

This book is very helpful. It even covers what kind of burial you would like, what you would like to be said and what music should be played.
It's title really covers the gamut of everything I need to do. Now I just have to get organized enough to do it.

I recommend this book to anyone who feels a need to advise family members pertinent information regarding all aspects of your everyday life (and death): i.e. bank account numbers, passwords, retirement data, bills owed, will location, detailed description of what you would like for your impending funeral, and numerous other areas for documenting things that only you would know that would be needed by the family upon your death.

Putting Things in Order

This is the best way that I have see to make my wishes known to my family as to how I want things done after I am gone. My friend's daughter gave her a copy and she shared it with me. I told our daughter about it and she bought me one. I showed it to some friends and told my aunt about it and since then I have ordered three for gifts for them. I love the pocket pages also.
